Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important topic and this trend can also be seen at our trade fairs. Visitors can find orientation with the help of exhibitor and product labels indicating sustainable textiles or classifications of product certifications.
The Eco-Textile Labelling Guide provides useful information about the latest ecological and social standards and certifications. This reference work is a joint project of MCL Global and Messe Frankfurt.
Heimtextil in Frankfurt publishes a Green Directory, which lists exhibitors of sustainable home and household textiles. Texworld in Paris offers visitors an overview of producers of sustainable textiles for the apparel industry with its Eco-textile friendly itinerary.
Special forums focus specifically on sustainability:
- "Green textiles: Fabrics that care" at Interstoff Asia Essential, Texworld and Texworld USA.
- Lectures on sustainable production and process flows for the manufacture of apparel and textiles at Texprocess and textile care at Texcare International.
In 2011 for the first time, Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the Gesamtverband textil+mode (Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry) presented a special prize for sustainability within the context of the textile+fashion innovation prize.
The following fairs emphasise sustainability, e.g. by exhibitor and product labels indicating sustainable textiles, through special forums, symposiums, lectures or a Green Directory:
